Breast augmentation is the number one surgical procedure in the United States thanks to the confidence boost it gives millions of women. If you’re coveting a curvier silhouette than the one nature gave you, Dr. Applebaum can help. There are two options when it comes to breast implants – silicone gel implants and saline implants – and there are three possible options for placement of the incisions, including under the breasts, through the underarms, or around the areola.
Silicone gel implants
Silicone gel implants are the most popular type of breast implant thanks to their natural look and feel. This type of implant feels the closest to the human fat of real breasts because the implants are pre-filled with a thick, cohesive sticky gel that mimics the feeling of natural breast tissue. As a result, many people prefer them to saline implants.
Saline implants
Saline implants, as the name implies, are filled with saline solution. Unlike silicone gel implants, which come pre-filled and are inserted into the body already full, saline implants are inserted into the body while empty and are then filled with sterile saline solution once they are in place based on the patient’s wishes. Saline is a natural fluid found in the body, so if the implant ruptures or leaks, the body easily absorbs the leaking solution without any health issues.
During your consultation, Dr. Applebaum will discuss the various pros and cons of each type of implant, as well as the various pros and cons of different incision locations. The type of implant chosen is up to the patient’s preference, but Dr. Applebaum will make recommendations based on the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic goals.

His skill is the most important, but his manner is a close second. He is so kind & so skilled! He also will not perform unnecessary procedures, which in BH is practically unheard of!!!! He’s simply the best

BREAST AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE FAQs
Some people think they want a breast augmentation, but what they actually are looking for is a breast lift. Breast augmentation uses implants to increase breast volume and provide bigger breasts, while breast lifts are intended to correct drooping or sagging breasts caused by a loss of volume due to aging, weight loss or weight gain, and pregnancy. Breast augmentation will not fix sagging or drooping breasts, and these effects will continue to progress with age. Likewise, a breast lift does not add volume to the breasts, although it will lift them into a more youthful position. Some women choose to have both a breast lift and breast augmentation in order to bring their breasts back to a more youthful position and also add volume with an implant.
The full recovery from a breast augmentation typically requires about six weeks. During recovery, the patient will wear a recovery bra that provides stability for the implants and helps to improve circulation and ensure proper drainage. The first three to five days after surgery are the most uncomfortable, and most women will take pain medication for the first few days following surgery. The length of time that patients experience pain is influenced in part by the size of the implant. Most patients take about one week off from office work, while more physical jobs may require up to three weeks off. Most patients are cleared to resume their normal activity within six to eight weeks.
The choice to pursue breast augmentation is a very personal one, and it is important to have a surgeon that understands your aesthetic goals and expectations.Patients should look for a surgeon who performs a thorough and detailed consultation that helps establish a relationship between surgeon and patient.
