Why Dr. Applebaum?
Patient care, trust and your satisfaction with good outcomes are my upmost concern.
Dr. Applebaum uses Facial Contouring with Aesthetic Facial Implants to create a beautiful, natural, proportional appearance that is uniquely you.
Each person’s face is unique, and the underlying structure of the facial skeleton is what provides us with the shape, form, and function that underscores our individual look. People with symmetrical and proportional facial features are generally considered to be more attractive, but some people are born with features that do not fit the rest of their face. Facial contouring with aesthetic facial implants can give you the beautiful, natural, and proportional appearance you’re seeking while still maintaining the unique qualities that make you who you are. Dr. Applebaum specializes in performing facial contouring using aesthetic implants that help create harmony among all of your features. Facial augmentation is a very personal choice, but Dr. Applebaum can help guide you through the process with his artistic vision and surgical skill.
When should I consider Facial Contouring Surgery?
Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation is the most common type of facial implant surgery performed, and it can have incredible results when used to balance the facial profile in patients who have a disproportionately small or recessed chin. Dr. Applebaum uses a shaped silicone implant that is fitted to the existing chin shape in order to provide additional projection and prominence to the chin with a very natural result. There are two different ways that chin implants can be placed, including the creation of a small incision on the underside of the chin or the insertion of the implant through the mouth, adjacent to the gum line on the lower jaw. In general, Dr. Applebaum recommends performing chin augmentation surgery using an aesthetic implant, but it may also be possible to surgically move the existing bone forward in a procedure called a sliding genioplasty. However, the surgery is comparatively more complex and has a more limited range of results. During your consultation, Dr. Applebaum will perform a comprehensive evaluation and discuss your best options for achieving a beautiful, natural result.
Midfacial Cheek Implants
Highly defined, prominent cheekbones are desired by many people, but not everyone is born with this feature. Midfacial cheek implants can be used to give people the prominent cheekbones they desire, but they can also be used in patients who had naturally defined cheekbones when younger but have had their appearance change due to aging. Aging can cause the cheek fat pad and surrounding tissue to move down the face and create deeper laugh-line folds and a more tired, hallowed appearance. Patients who are self conscious about their cheekbones or concerned about signs of aging can benefit from midfacial cheek implants performed by Dr. Applebaum, as these implants can help correct the loss of volume and restore a youthful appearance to the midfacial cheek fat or to create more prominent cheekbones. Dr. Applebaum uses three different types of cheek implants depending on the desired result, including malar implants, submalar implants, and combined implants, each of which has a different intended purpose. During your consultation, Dr. Applebaum will discuss your aesthetic goals in order to determine the most advantageous type of implant for you.

Facial Contouring Surgery FAQs
The key to achieving a natural and beautiful result from an aesthetic implant is a firm understanding of facial aesthetics and anatomy. Dr. Applebaum has performed facial contouring using aesthetic implants for nearly 30 years, and he uses his artistic judgement and surgical experience to create a natural change that restores lost volume and deficiencies in each patient’s anatomy without appearing overdone.
Facial aesthetic implants are placed directly on the bones of the face, and their silastic polymer construction makes them very soft. Not only will you not be able to feel or see your implant, it will not even be visible when using facial animation technologies.
Facial implants offer a lasting and permanent change to your appearance, and they are designed to be very safe and durable. The implants are made from an inert silastic polymer that does not break down over time, and the placement of the implants under the soft tissue and directly on the bones of the face means they do not experience any wear and tear. Your facial implants are good for a lifetime.
Chin and cheek implants are the most common implants placed into the face. There are very few alternatives to augmenting the chin and cheek areas other than using a well placed facial implant.
