Most dermal fillers last six to 18 months depending on the location and the level of facial animation surrounding the filler. Fillers around the lips and laugh lines tend to last less that filler placed deep into the cheeks and lower eyes.

Most fillers are injected with very small needles and are not painless but are easily tolerated. If needed topical anesthesia with a gel can be applied to make the experience more comfortable.
Although injectables like Botox and dermal fillers are relatively safe and effective, there are some potential side effects as with most cosmetic procedures. Redness, bruising and swelling at the injection site is most common. More serious complications are rare and include bleeding, injection site rash, headache, nausea and contouring irregularities.
