You Don’t Need Surgery To Smooth Your Forehead

A forehead that is creased with lines or wrinkles from age and repeated facial expressions can leave one with a worn appearance, and many who suffer with this condition often believe surgery is their only option. However, with the latest advancements you can have a smoother forehead without having to resort to that invasive of a procedure.

Botox

One of the treatments to smooth the forehead that has gained popularity in recent years is Botox. Administered through small injections, it prevents muscle movement in the applied areas. In doing so, the Botox treatment temporarily halts repeated facial expressions that contribute to lines and wrinkles, allowing the skin to relax and eventually create a smoother appearance. Botox is generally very safe, but it must always be administered by a trusted healthcare professional as recommended by the Mayo Clinic.

Dermal Fillers

While Botox will relax the muscles of the forehead, other treatments such as Dermal Fillers address the problem through adding volume. Fillers usually consist of a hyaluronic acid-based injectable and is administered strategically to increase the volume underneath a wrinkle, smoothing the area.

The procedure is effective, however, it is important that you adhere to the dermal filler aftercare program that your doctor recommends. Restrictions on exercise within a designated period after the treatment, avoidance of massaging the area, as well as other post procedure conditions should be adhered to. Your doctor will continuously monitor the treated area to assess your condition, as recovery times will vary according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Microneedling

For some patients, a better option is to let their body produce what is needed and this can be done through the procedure of Microneedling. Loss of collagen is a natural part of the aging process, but it does not necessarily mean that it cannot be reintroduced through stimulating the body’s own collagen producing capacity. The treatment consists of rolling a device fitted with small needles gently over the forehead. This in turn stimulates the body to heal the area in which new collagen is produced, lessening wrinkles and lines.

Chemical Peels

In some cases, your doctor may recommend a chemical peel as your best non-surgical option. The process involves having a chemical solution applied to the treatment areas. This removes damaged skin which in turn, smooths the forehead. In addition, the treatment’s other benefits, as pointed out by the Cleveland Clinic, is to get rid of blemishes and other undesirable skin surface traits.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Another excellent popular option is Laser Skin Resurfacing. Unlike many treatments that concentrate solely on the exposed skin, this technology reaches the underlying layers. Laser resurfacing forehead treatment, much like microneedling, stimulates collagen production and is very effective in obtaining the desired results. In addition, laser resurfacing can also remove skin blemishes as well as scarring caused by issues such as acne. Though very effective, laser skin resurfacing aftercare is critical to the final results.

Having A Skilled Doctor Is A Must

Whatever the forehead smoothing procedure, its final effectiveness is highly dependent on the skill of the doctor applying it. Dr, Robert Applebaum recommends that you choose a plastic surgeon who takes the time to fully assess your condition, is knowledgeable about all the available treatment options, and most importantly, is able to explain the process and address all of your questions and concerns.
