Is There Such A Thing As a Non-Surgical Facelift

A facelift is a commonly performed plastic surgery procedure.  Both men and women are choosing to undergo facelifts.  An article in MedicalNewsToday, informs us that in the US, 107261 women and 13702 men underwent surgical facelifts in 2016.

What Exactly is a Facelift?

A facelift, also called a rhytidectomy, is a plastic surgery procedure that helps reduce the visible signs of aging in the face and neck.   A rhytidectomy helps lift and tighten the tissues of the face. Some steps that can be included in a facelift are, smoothing out folds, removing excess skin, smoothing out folds, and tightening facial tissue.

Are you a Surgical Candidate?

You may have made the decision that you want to have a facelift, or perhaps are even considering it.  How do you know if you are a surgical candidate? According to Healthline, a good surgical candidate for a facelift includes a person who is:

  • Healthy: A person without underlying medical conditions. A thorough medical evaluation is necessary because many medical conditions can interrupt post-operative wound healing and recovery after surgery.
  • Non-smoker: Smoking also interferes with wound healing. Good candidates are non-smokers. If you do smoke, your surgeon may require you to quit smoking for several weeks or months prior to the scheduled surgery.
  • Substance abuse: substances like alcohol, narcotics, and illicit drug abuse can also negatively impact post-operative recovery. A good facelift candidate is not currently using any of the discussed substances.
  • Expectations: A good candidate has researched and reviewed facelift before and after photos, and has realistic expectations of the process and outcome.

The best way to truly determine if you are a surgical candidate is to find an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon and schedule a consultation to discuss.  Every person is different and a personalized consultation and evaluation are necessary.

What if You are Not a Surgical Candidate?

There are many reasons why a person decides not to undergo a surgical facelift.  Perhaps he or she is not a surgical candidate.  If that is the case some of the factors involved in determining surgical candidate criteria are modifiable, meaning they can be changed by the patient. For example, if the patient is a smoker, he or she can quit smoking and then re discuss the surgical facelift option with the plastic surgeon.

Some people are not ready to undergo a surgical facelift and that is okay also.  Whatever the reason, it’s no longer a problem.  There is a solution for everyone. Fortunately, thanks to the advancements in plastic surgery, there are several facelift options available today, including non-surgical facelift.

Different Types of Facelift procedures

Beverly Hills Facelift Surgery

Applebaum MD offers a variety of different facelift procedures.  Dr. Robert Applebaum has over 25 years of experience in plastic surgery.   Dr. Applebaum can create a customized facelift procedure to meet your desired outcome.  Dr. Applebaum offers both  surgically advanced techniques along with laser technology to remove years of aged skin. The skin is a key barrier in protecting the rest of our bodies from infection, injury, and temperature changes. It’s a tough job, and over time, the skin can become aged due to sun damage, stress, and wear and tear. Dr. Applebaum can provide his patients with a younger, refreshed look.

Facelift procedures include:

Non-Surgical Face Lift

Beverly Hills Face Tite Surgery

Dr. Applebaum developed the No-Scalpel, No Scars Face Tite procedure to tighten skin non-surgically.  How does he do this?  He uses FDA approved radiofrequency technology that leads to results of skin tightening by 30-40%.  Dr. Applebaum’s patients experience excellent results from the Face Tite Surgery.  The results start showing about 6 weeks after the procedure, and final results approximately 6-8 months after surgery.  A huge benefit is that reduction in recovery time.  Since there is no incision, there is no post-operative pain or discomfort. Patients typically return to work in 7 days after welling and skin discoloration resolves. As a result, the face Tite Surgery helps create a more natural and less overdone look.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Beverly Hills – Dot Co2 laser

Dr. Applebaum is an innovator in the use of laser for plastic surgery.  He was one of the first plastic surgeons to use the Dot CO2 Fraction Laser in Los Angeles. The Dot Co2 laser works great on areas of the neck, chest, and hands. General anesthesia is not necessary, because the treatment can be performed using topical gel anesthesia while the patient is awake.  This is an excellent option for patients with underlying medical problems such as asthma or other lung issues. Dr. Applebaum is able to customize this treatment according to the various skin thickness, skin color, takin type, and the amount of skin damage, wrinkles, or scarring that may be present.   In the end, the Dot Laser creates permanent collagen rejuvenation with permanent visible improvement of the skin.

Additional Facelift Procedures Offered at Applebaum MD

The Beverly Hills Mini Face Lift

The mini-lift combines the benefits of a natural mid-face lift with laser or radiofrequency energy.  What’s great is that this procedure requires minimal incisions, resulting in reduced recovery time and improved aesthetics.

Beverly Hills Eyelid and Forehead Facial Rejuvenation Surgery

Advanced technique in eyelid and forehead facial surgery leads to longer-lasting, natural results. Procedures include ones improving the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, and forehead.

Facial Contouring

When considering facial contouring, the main thing to consider is what procedure will provide an end result which includes a balanced appearance of your facial features. Discuss with a plastic surgeon if an aesthetic implant is a right choice for you. Types of contouring procedures include chin augmentation and midfacial cheek implants. Chin augmentation creates balance and is often the most aesthetic implant chosen. Midfacial cheek implants can help correct the loss of volume and restore a younger look.

There are different approaches and techniques used to place the implant. A plastic surgeon can discuss the various details on what he or she prefers and recommends.  ·

Ears

Ear surgery, also called otoplasty is a surgery that may be performed for various reasons, such as for example when a patient has protruding ears. Sadly people of all ages are bullied by people making fun of features that stand out among their peers, such as protruding years. Parents may request that their child undergo otoplasty, however, children must have completed most of their growth. Therefore otoplasty is not usually performed until after age 10. Dr. Applebaum has years of experience performing otoplasty.
